Perspectives

Perspectives from Justin.

My observations on hospitality, property operations, resident experience, team leadership, lease-ups, and the decisions that shape long-term performance.

The best reviews start with how people feel

“I’ve learned that residents usually do not leave a great review because you asked at exactly the right time. They leave one because someone listened, followed up, and made their day a little easier. That has been true at every property I have led. Strong ratings came from teams that cared about the small things and took ownership when something went wrong. A review is really a resident telling you how it felt to live there. If people feel heard, respected, and cared for, that story tends to be a good one.”

Hospitality is a mindset

“My background is in hospitality, and that mindset has stayed with me throughout my career in property leadership. For me, it looked like knowing residents by name, following through, caring about the details, and making sure small concerns did not become bigger frustrations. It was never about grand gestures. It was about being present, consistent, and making people feel cared for in the place they called home. That is still how I lead in multifamily today.”

Opening day should feel calm for residents

“I think opening day should feel calm for the resident, even when the team knows how much work it took to get there. A building can be finished and still not be ready. The team has to know the property, understand what residents were promised, and be prepared to make people feel at home from the first day. That is what operational readiness means to me.”
